Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are facing criticism from netizens after making a “working class” statement in a recent interview. The couple has been working in the industry for the last decade or more and got married to each other while they were at the peak of their careers.
In the latest conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool and Wolverine star talked about raising his and Lively’s four children in a comparatively glamorous life compared to he and his wife, who grew up in working-class conditions.
“We try to give them as normal a life as possible,” Reynolds said of his children while speaking to a media outlet. He added, “I try to focus on their childhood and my childhood or mine. “I should not impose a gap between my wife’s childhood.”
The actor continued his controversial comments, saying, “We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I would say or think, ‘Oh my God, I never got any gifts. It would have been ‘like this when I was a kid,’ or, ‘I would never have had this luxury of takeout,’ or whatever.’

Meanwhile, the comments immediately caught the attention of fans and critics, who pointed out that the It End’s With Us actress’s family was in the entertainment business, making it hard to believe that she would have grown up in middle-class circumstances.
One user wrote on social media, “Quick search: She grew up in Tarzana and then went to Burbank High. His entire family was in the entertainment business. Another person shared, “She was cast in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants when she was a teenager. At least it is giving to the middle class. Anyway, none of that matters because he’s rich and unbearable now. goodbye”.
Another fan said, “I thought Blake Lively was a Nepo baby… she’s so privileged.”
Meanwhile, as for upcoming projects, Reynolds will next be seen in the film Animal Friends alongside Jason Momoa and Aubrey Plaza. Blake Lively was last seen in the hit film It End’s With Us.
