New Delhi: HDFC Bank (Rs 6353.12 crore), GRSE (Rs 3886.85 crore), Amaraja Batteries (Rs 3415.81 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 3247.47 crore), Exide Ind. (Rs 2467.30 crore), Axis Bank (Rs 2467.30 crore) (Rs 2217.94 crore), HAL (Rs 1884.17 crore), Mazagon Dock Ship (Rs 1826.09 crore), Happiest Minds (Rs 1782.37 crore) and SBI (Rs. 1759.78 crore) were the highest traded on national securities. The NSE Nifty index closed the session up 183.46 points at 23721.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 712.44 points at 78053.52.

The Nifty index was topped by Shriram Finance Ltd (up 3.74 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd (3.53 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd (2.39 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd (2.33 per cent) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (up 1.98 per cent). was among the gainers.

On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (down 2.94 percent), Eicher Motors Ltd. (1.97 percent), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (1.67 percent), Asian Paints Ltd. (down 1.30 percent) and Tata Steel Ltd. (down 1.29 percent) were among the day’s top losers.
