A piece of tragic news is coming directly from the Malayalam industry. The famous actor Shanavas, son of one of the early and most popular superstars of Indian cinema, died at the age of 71. Allegedly, he had been struggling with kidney and heart related diseases for many years. Unfortunately, he breathed his last at a private hospital in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram on 4 August.

Family background

Shanavas was born in the house of Prem Nazir and Habiba Bevi in Thiruvananthapuram. He was one of the 4 brothers and married to Ayesha Bevi. He had two sons, Shemer Khan (a Vologue/Manager in Malaysia) and Ajit Khan (working in Australia).

Career front of Shanavas

Shanavas made her acting debut in 1981, directed by Balachandra Menon. He was also studying for MA in English literature at New College, Chennai. His career was over 4 decades, and at that time, he appeared in more than 50 Malayalam and Tamil films. He forced not only by playing romantic lead but also the roles of the villain. Some notable titles include Mauna Ragam, Chithram, Neelagiri, China Town (2011), and Jan Gana Mana (2022).

He took a break for more than 2 decades from acting and finally made his comeback with the city of China with Mohanlal in 2011. His return film not only ruled his screen appearance, but also left fans to listen more.

Last screen appearance of Shanwas

Shanavas’s last screen appearance was in the 2022 film Jan Gana Maina. It was a thriller starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, and fans loved his performance. There was evidence that his screen Karishma remained strong even in his later years.

Apart from films, he also worked in several television serials such as Shankhumukham, Velutha Katharina, Kadmattu Kathanar and Satyameva Jayhet.

Shanwas has survived from his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz, sons Ajit Khan and Sharabi Khan and Bahu Hana, Onmanorama. His last rites will be held on Tuesday evening in Palayam Muslim Jamath Cemetery.
