Shahrukh says he ‘cries in the bathroom’ over failures, then adds: Don’t blame life
Shahrukh Khan addressed his audience at an event in Dubai, where he talked about dealing with setbacks in life and not blaming oneself for the failures. The Bollywood superstar gave an emotional speech about always ‘rising up and moving forward’.
Actor Shahrukh Khan is known for his wit and humor. But, he also attracts attention with his serious conversations about life, career, choices and family. Recently at the Global Freight Summit held in Dubai, the superstar talked about the failures and how he kept tormenting himself for a long time due to those failures.
Shahrukh shared that he cried in his bathroom out of fear of being disgraced. The actor mentioned feeling self-loathing and guilt when something goes wrong in life and asked everyone to fight those feelings, rebuild themselves and move on.
Asked if he ever rejects his work, Shahrukh said, “I am. And I don’t like feeling it, and then I cry a lot in the bathroom. I don’t show it to anyone. Because I think you could drown in it.” Self-pity for about that long.”
The 59-year-old said that one has to recognize one’s mistakes and accept that one has made a mistake somewhere, and hence the failure. Shahrukh said, “You have to believe that the world is not against you, or that nothing wrong happened because of you or the world is conspiring to ruin your work. No. You have to believe that you have done it.” Badly made. Then you have moments of despair to move on, but there are also moments when you say ‘Shut up, now get up and move on.’
The superstar also talked at length about how people often blame the rest of the world, society and other people for wrongdoings, but they have to understand that it is all part of the game. “The world is not against you. Life goes on. I guess if you can imagine yourself as an ant, then I am, a very good looking ant (smiles), but still, an ant! Sometimes the wind takes you away…the wind is not working against you, it’s just doing what it does,” he explained.

Shahrukh further said, “Life does what it does. You can’t start blaming life for failure. You have to remember that it would be something that I did wrong or the business did wrong, or the strategy and Marketing gone wrong… and I have to figure it out and come back.”
Shahrukh Khan, who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, is considered to be one of the most articulate and educated actors in the world. He never forgets to smile or tease the audience while sharing anecdotes from his life to attract their attention.
