Shah Rukh Khan is known as the biggest romantic hero in the Hindi film industry, thanks to famous films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Toh Pagal Hai. Given this public image of the megastar, one would think that King Khan would love the film genre. But that’s not the case. In fact, it’s his “least favourite”. He also expressed his admiration for Tom Cruise’s films.
Speaking to Variety, the Zero actor explained why he made a comeback with action films like Pathan and Jawaan after his brief hiatus. He said that when he was not working a few years ago, he felt he hadn’t done any action films. During the interview, he revealed that he loves Tom Cruise’s films. “Mission Impossible – you don’t really have to worry. You’ll often come back satisfied,” Shah Rukh Khan said.
Further, in the same chat, he spoke about his least and most favourite film genre to work in. The Donkey actor said that even though he loves it, he is shocked by the concept of being a romantic hero. Shockingly, he never considered himself as such, as per the public opinion. According to him, he was categorised as such because some of the romantic films directed by him became popular and eventually became evergreen classics.
He also told the publication about his dream to have a room in his home with photos that showcase the many film genres he has worked in. “It’s not a narcissistic thing. If I look at my work, every film should be something I grew up watching,” he said, adding that as a viewer, he is not limited to any one genre.
When he watches movies, he goes from action to science-fiction films, dystopian world films, off-beat, human dramas and horror films. While he professes his love for courtroom dramas and thrillers, he admits that “strangely, I like romantic films the least.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, SRK will soon begin shooting for another action film titled King. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film also stars SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan and actor Abhishek Bachchan.
