Shabana Azmi, who was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, has been active in the industry for the past 50 years. The critically acclaimed Indian actress has been a part of many great films over the years. With her upcoming film Bun Tikki releasing soon, the actress spoke about her friendly relationship with her co-star, veteran actress Zeenat Aman.
Speaking to Hindustan Times about the same, Shabana Azmi emphasised that she has not been close to her Bun Tikki co-star but Zeenat has always been an encouraging and humble person. “I have not been very close to Zeenat over the years but she has always been an extremely humble and encouraging person,” Shabana said.
Recalling the golden days when she first worked with Zeenat Aman in 1974, the Mandi actress said that though Zeenat was a big star at that time, she never threw any tantrums and was always very accessible, even to newcomers like her and actress Zarina Wahab.
Praising this special quality of Zeenat, the actress said, “I remember when I first worked with her in Ishq Ishq Ishq (1974), (actor) Zarina Wahab and I were complete newbies while she was a huge star. But she didn’t show her weight and looked effortless on the set. This is one quality that I still see in her and I think it is her most special quality,” said Shabana Azmi.
Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman are working together again after 40 years in a film called Bun Tikki. The film also stars Abhay Deol and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani fame Anjali Anand in pivotal roles.
Bun Tikki is directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, while Manish Malhotra’s banner Stage 5 Production is funding the film in partnership with Jio Studios. The principal photography of Bun Tikki has already been completed. However, the makers are yet to decide on its release date.
