Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal are set to enthrall audiences with their acting prowess in Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller Sector 36. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, this spine-chilling tale of power, crime and social inequality will release on September 13. It will mark the directorial debut of Aditya Nimbalkar, who was one of the writers of Meghna Gulzar’s acclaimed Talvar.
Vikrant shared the first look poster of Sector 36 on his Instagram, in which he looked completely unrecognizable. The 12th Fail star wrote in the caption, “Unexplained disappearances, a deadly chase and the dark truth. The incredible Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal star in this terrifying crime-thriller inspired by true events. Sector 36 is coming September 13, only on Netflix.” Check it out here:-
Soon after the first look of Sector 36 was released, several users took to the comments section of Vikrant Massey and shared their thoughts. One user commented, “If this is Vikrant M and Deepak D, I already like it (PSA – do watch the underrated “A Death in the Gunj”). Another commented, “Deepak Dobriyal has already sold me.” A third user assumed the backstory of the series and shared, “Probably based on the story – Nithari massacre 2006”.
Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films said in a statement, “We are excited to work with Netflix again and tell a story like Sector 36, which is an extremely sensitive film. For us, this is a story that needed to be told. The film is multi-layered, delving deep into the human psyche, exploring the predator and the prey, the haves and the have-nots. Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal have delivered stellar performances, and we cannot be proud of their work.”
Written by Bodhayan Roychowdhury and starring Akash Khurana, Sector 36 is inspired by a true incident and follows the disappearance of several children from a local slum, following which a local police officer is inspired to uncover the disturbing truth in a shocking sequence of events. The film depicts the journey of the police officer who encounters a cunning serial killer in a terrifying investigation.
Apart from Sector 36, Vikrant Massey is also waiting for the release of his much-awaited film The Sabarmati Report which is not getting a place in the theatres.
