The Captain America: Brave New World panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 brought out the crowd with plenty of laughs, including Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Giancarlo Esposito and other cast members talking about the upcoming superhero sequel. However, Harrison Ford’s surprise appearance made the biggest impact. The movie star received a standing ovation when he took the stage in Hall H.
Additionally, new footage shown of the upcoming film during Marvel’s presentation confirmed Ford as the lead character.
Captain America: Brave New World’s major character will be revealed at SDCC 2024
Marvel had a great showing at San Diego Comic-Con this year following the success of Deadpool and Wolverine. In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, faces a conspiracy and the appearance of the Red Hulk. As soon as Anthony Mackie introduced him on stage in Hall H as someone who is “a lot of cool and a little bit red, Mr. President,” Harrison Ford walked out and left fans imitating the Hulk’s roar.
Harrison Ford’s character Thunderbolt Ross will transform into the Red Hulk in this film. In addition, this film will also introduce Adamantium into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
It wasn’t just Ford’s Red Hulk that shocked audiences, but Giancarlo Esposito’s entry into the MCU as the Serpent Society’s Sidewinder also left fans shocked. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 panel, Kevin Feige said, “Just when I think my nerd life couldn’t get any more complete, I hear Harrison Ford say adamantium.”
captain America: Brave New World introduces adamantium to the MCU
Adamantium was first introduced in Avengers #66 in 1969. It is an iconic and indestructible metal in the Marvel Universe, just like vibranium. It is most famously associated with Wolverine, who had it infused into his bones, giving him his mutant superpowers.
New footage confirms that the Celestials that fell in the Eternals movie now have a disputed place in Adamantium. The fourth Captain America movie will shed more light on substance and dramatic destruction or utility.
The new clip began with US President Thunderbolt Ross (Ford) addressing world leaders at the Celestial Island Summit about the discovery of adamantium. Ross appointed Sam Wilson/Captain America to form a new team of Avengers, but all plans went awry. The footage also confirmed that President Ross would become the Red Hulk.
Anthony Mackie will carry forward the legacy of Steve Rogers in Captain America: Brave New World, which will release in theaters on February 14, 2025.
