Screenshots of Palash Muchhal allegedly cheating on Smriti Mandhana are going viral
Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding was put on hold due to health reasons. Soon after, alleged ‘hoax’ text screenshots surfaced. India Today cannot independently verify the authenticity of these screenshots and does not guarantee their accuracy.
What was supposed to be a celebratory weekend for cricketer Smriti Mandhana and filmmaker-composer Palash Muchhal took an unexpected turn. After their wedding was abruptly called off over the weekend, reportedly due to Mandhana’s father’s health, social media on Tuesday was flooded with screenshots of texts suggesting that Muchhal had allegedly cheated on the cricketer.
The marriage of 29 year old Smriti Mandhana and 30 year old Palash Muchhal was to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra. But the families suddenly announced that the wedding has been postponed indefinitely due to the health emergency. Mandhana’s father Srinivas Mandhana was admitted to the hospital after reportedly showing symptoms of a heart attack.
Within 24 hours, fiancé Palash Muchhal was also taken to a hospital in the city – reportedly after his health deteriorated suddenly – and later shifted to a hospital in Mumbai.
Soon after, fans noticed that the famous cricketer had deleted several posts from his Instagram feed, including his engagement photos and a proposal video.
On Tuesday morning, screenshots of an alleged chat between Muchhal and a woman started circulating online. The pictures now going viral were first shared by an Instagram user named Mary D’Costa and later it was shared on Reddit. The Instagram account from which the screenshots came has now been deactivated.

The messages, dated May 2025, allegedly show Muchhal inviting the woman to go swimming. The alleged chat reveals that when the woman ‘Mary D’Costa’ questions him about his relationship status, the musician is seen being evasive. He allegedly kept insisting the woman to meet him during this period.

As soon as the screenshots went viral, X was flooded with reactions ranging from surprise, shock, anger and condemnation. Many others questioned the authenticity of the screenshot.
One Reddit user wrote, “Just reading these makes me feel bad. Damn, people have such shame.” Another commented, “Brother blindsided her by making big gestures by getting her initials and jersey number tattooed on his arm so she can cheat in peace without him ever suspecting her.”
One user wrote, “This is the only thing I’m worried about before responding. In our current attention span and social media age, anything can be manipulated.”
Some wrote that the cricketer probably “survived the disaster”, while also wishing his father well.
