Satyamev Jayate starring John Abraham and Divya Khosla was made on a huge budget of Rs 2. 95 crores and failed at the box office. Recently, Milap Zaveri revealed that after the release of the film he was made to feel that he had failed and that producer Nikhil Advani, who is like a brother to him, had abandoned him. Zaveri also shared that he had sent a message to Advani explaining how he was removed after a failure.
In a candid interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Milap recalled his differences with Nikhil Advani after the failure of John Abraham starrer Satyamev Jayate 2.
The director admitted that he was made to feel that he had failed and said the same. He mentioned that it may have been overconfidence on his part, but he was never disrespected or crossed any boundaries with Nikhil or Emme Entertainment.
The Marjaavaan director admitted that he had a few arguments with Nikhil while working on the John Abraham-led film. But this was due to differences in their views. Since his last two films were hits, he was quite confident in himself at that time. So, it was like two people who believed in different types of cinema.
Zaveri said, “It was just that as long as my cinema was running, they sucked it up. They accepted it because it was making money for them and their company.”
He recalled that Satyamev Jayate was a turning point for the production house and him after its success. Hence, there might be overconfidence on their part to make the sequel.
Although they parted amicably, she mentioned that Advani is like her elder brother and almost a father figure to her. They have a personal relationship, so they feel they have the right to express their feelings honestly.
Milan admitted that he felt hurt, which lasted for a long time, and he felt abandoned by the Veda director. So, he even sent her a text message expressing his feelings.
“I also messaged him once. Nikhil, one flop, and you dumped me. You just dumped me, and you’re gone, all bets are off,” she recalled over the text.
Despite his blunt message to Nikhil, the author got his smiling face back. Nevertheless, he attends their functions or other events whenever possible because he will always be there for them.
On the work front, Milap Zaveri is busy directing Masti 4, starring Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi. The lead actresses or the final release date have not been announced yet, but fans are already excited to watch the film.
