Sarojini Nagar market is not closed. Viral jCB video explained
Unlike several viral video and news reports, Sarojini Nagar Bazaar has not been demolished.

Delhi’s favorite fashion Destination, Sarojini Nagar Market, saw the anger of JCB Bulldozer on the night of 17 May. However, unlike many viral video and news reports, on the contrary, no shops are surprised.
The popular market is still working and flourishing, stirring not only from Delhi-NCR, but also with visitors from across the country.
Sarojini Market Shopkeepers Association said in a statement on May 21, “We want to clarify that Sarojini Nagar Market is open and working normally. All shops are operating, and we welcome all visitors to enjoy their shopping experience as usual.”
So, what exactly happened, and they are going viral on the JCB video internet?
Around 11.30 am on Saturday, three JCBs entered Sarojini Nagar Bazar area to eliminate several unauthorized street vendors setup in an NDMC and Delhi Police -led drive. During the operation, he also demolished boards and awnings (sheds) of more than 100 authorized shops.

“Apart from taking action against illegal seller stalls, he also broke several boards and said about authorized shops. The shed means rain and sun protection, mainly for customers. Today India,

This step was in response to the order of the High Court of Delhi to remove illegal encroachment from the market. When the shop owners in the market did not see the concerned officials on the matter, they filed an contempt petition. Shop owners believe that this can provoke the authorities.
In recent years, the market has faced a major encroachment issue. Hawkers have flooded the region, and many illegal sellers have captured a tight situation for visitors, otherwise the well -organized Sarojini Nagar market.

Encroachment is also fuel by shop owners who use area outside their shops to display products on racks and clothing rings.
NDMC trucks regularly enter the market undeclared, seizing the goods displayed outside the shops or seizing them from the hawkers. Every time a truck arrives, the nervousness catches the market, the hawkers ran to take out their belongings from the sight and brought the shop workers back in a hurry.

As soon as the NDMC truck comes out, the market returns to its encroachment reality.

In 2021, a viral video during the Omikron variant outbreak revealed the major encroachment issue of the market.

With sellers sitting and selling your stock in the middle of the streets, the space is essentially tight, leading to mob management issues.
Even in 2023, a midnight fire provoked a corner of the market in the initial hours, increasing the concerns about the roadside and road sellers, which leave their products unattractive on the streets overnight.
“The latest drive is a great step to deal with the long -affected issue of crowd management. However, it will only be successful when they will be successful when they will do a regular inspection and leave it behind as a once thing. In the last decade, in the last decade, the number of illegal vendors and hawkers has gone on a large scale in this market. Sleeping on this issue, working only once.”

This drive will help visitors, provide them enough space to walk.
Many Delhi Bazaar is looking at such hesitant drives by MCD, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a 20-day mega sanitation campaign and vowed zero tolerance on encroachment.
Recent enforcement drives have left many street vendors, as many of them (even with valid permits) say their stalls and goods have been affected.
On Monday, more than a hundred vendors gathered at the Constitution Club for a public hearing, urged the MCD and NDMC to ensure that authorized sellers are not affected. Under the leadership of the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI), the hearing was observed that the sellers expressed concern about the loss of livelihood and called for safety for people with calls, nominated vending zones, and valid documents.
For Sarojini Nagar Market, it has also been in a quarrel with NBCC, redeveloping the government residential area around it. In December 2024, the Market Association raised complaints against the company for blocking most of the entry roads going to the market, which has overthrew the leg and has created parking issues for visitors.
However, the company replied, saying it has developed a special multi-level parking facility to address the issue. This parking facility, however, is not yet.
Cut so far: The market is completely open, and both hawkers and unauthorized vendors are also back into business in some capacity. While JCB video did a lot of plays, a permanent solution would require regular check -up.
