Akshay Kumar, Suriya have different approach to scenes, says filmmaker Sudha Kongara
Filmmaker Sudha Kongara talks about the different ways Akshay Kumar and Surya approach acting. Kongara directed ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and has also directed the Hindi remake of the film ‘Sarfira’.

‘Sarfira’ director Sudha Kongara recently spoke about her experience of working with Akshay Kumar and Surya. For those who don’t know, the film is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’. Kongara, who directed the film starring Surya, is making her directorial debut in Bollywood with ‘Sarfira’. The filmmaker spoke about working with both Akshay and Surya.
Filmmaker Sudha Kongara was asked about the difference in working with Akshay Kumar and Suriya. The filmmaker said that both the actors have different approaches to their scenes. She told Galta Plus, “Akshay sir, he is a much more friendly and enthusiastic person than Suriya. Suriya is more intense, tight-lipped, calm and gives that kind of performance. The scenes they shot are very different from each other. In the proposal scene that we shot, Akshay is flamboyant, but with Suriya, it is much more reserved. So, naturally, the characters turn out to be different. So, that was good for me.”
He further added, “I think the processes were different, but where it landed was the same. Because I know Suriya is much more prepared and he is getting better with time. He keeps telling me that I am getting better and better with each take. But still, we did just a few takes for Suriya, because we had practised a lot. Whereas with Akshay sir, he always kept telling me that my first shot was my best shot. But, no. I realised that as he takes more takes, he gets better and better. I think we took about 5-6 takes. And he has a process where he goes off of everything. He just wants to know the mood of the scene, pre-scene and post-scene, and he has his own ways of navigating it. He is never wrong. Maybe in the beginning, when we started shooting, he was smiling more than he should have; he looked happier than he should have, but he calmed down,” he added. He further said.
