Sarfira Box Office Collection Week 1: Akshay Kumar-Radhika Madan’s film disappoints; collects Rs 17.65 crore

Directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal and others, Sarfira had a poor first week as it grossed Rs 17.65 crore. Out of Rs 17.65 crore, 11.60 crore came in the three-day weekend. The makers introduced a buy one get one offer to boost their ticket sales on weekdays. With the help of this offer, Sarfira remained stable at a very low level on weekdays and Wednesday was also a bank holiday.

Sarfira earned Rs 17.65 crore in its first week in India; collections will end under Mission Raniganj

Sarfira now faces competition in Bad Newz and then Deadpool and Wolverine are set to rule the box office. The competition will mean that Sarfira will not get as long a run at the box office as Mission Raniganj did despite having a nearly similar first week. Collections from overseas are negligible and currently it looks like the Akshay Kumar starrer will struggle to gross more than Rs 40 crore worldwide.

Akshay Kumar finds himself in a difficult situation in his career

Akshay Kumar is going through a very difficult phase in his film career. The series of poor performance of films is not ending. Khel Khel Mein is his next film and it will clash with Stree 2 and Veda. The actor will bet big on Khel Khel Mein so that it lays the ground for films like Sky Force, Jolly LLB 3, Welcome 3 and Housefull 5.

About Surfira

Veer Mhatre (Akshay Kumar) lives in an isolated village with very poor rail connectivity. While his father keeps writing letters to higher authorities, suggesting measures to improve the lives of the village people, Veer finds it all futile and feels that action must be much more forceful. A protest on the railway tracks passing through their village ends disastrously and a quarrel between father and son results in the latter leaving the village forever. He studies hard and joins the Indian Air Force. He quits it and starts working on creating a low-cost airline with his friends, so that flying in the air is not restricted to only the privileged. What Veer doesn’t know is that starting a low-cost airline is no child’s play and there are many big players like Mr. Paresh Goswami (Paresh Rawal), who are out to beat him as soon as they get him.
