Actor Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing the main villain in the upcoming Telugu film ‘Double iSmart’. Directed by Ram Pothineni, the film is directed by Puri Jagannadh. At the launch of the film’s first song ‘Big Bull’, Dutt spoke about his preference for negative roles in South Indian cinema.

During the event held on Thursday, August 8, Sanjay Dutt was asked why he likes playing negative roles in South films.

“Working in the south film industry is a challenge for me and I think it would be fun to play negative roles,” he said. You get to do a lot of things – you get to kill, you get to be killed, The rape has been cut but that…(You get to do a lot – you get to kill, you get beaten up. Rape is not allowed anymore, otherwise…) It’s good that at least an actor has something to do after doing so many films.”

At the same event, Sanjay also shared his experience of working with Ram Pothineni and filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. He said, “We are all fans of Puri (director Puri Jagannadh), as Ram said, ‘he changed Telugu cinema’. He created that swag and coolness and I would like to thank him for making me a part of Double iSmart Shankar and making me do Big Bull. Working with Ram (Pothineni) was a lot of fun. It was a pleasure and honour to work with him. He is like a younger brother to me and he is a good artiste and hardworking and we had a lot of fun while filming in Dubai and other places.”

Apart from Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt and Kavya Thapar, ‘Double iSmart’ also stars Sayaji Shinde, Bani J, Getup Srinu, Ali, Makarand Deshpande, Jhaanse and many others. Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur, the film has music by Mani Sharma. The film will clash with Ravi Teja’s ‘Mr Bachchan’ in theatres. ‘Double iSmart’ will be released in multiple languages.
