Santosh was eligible for selection in the U.K. because it had a wide release in the country and was backed by British producers. The film is produced by Mike Goodridge, James Bosher, Balthazar de Ganay and Alan McAlex. Executive producers include Ama Ampadu, Eva Yates, Diarmid Scrimshaw, Lucia Haslauer and Martin Gerhard.
The film is produced by Good Chaos in association with co-producers Razor Film and Haut et Court, and is financed by the BFI and BBC Film. The UK regularly selects non-English language films for this category, as it is a requirement for Best International Feature Film.
Written and directed by Suri, Santosh is a gripping investigative thriller. The film will now compete with Missing Ladies and several other productions from around the world for an Oscar nomination. The final five nominees will be announced by the Academy in January 2025.
