Harshvandan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ may not have been so popular at the time of its release, but it has made its place in the hearts of the audience in the last few years. In fact, many audience members were expecting to see a sequel to this film. If reports are to be believed, its sequel is in the works. However, Rane and Hocane will not be a part of it.

According to a source close to the production Hindustan TimesIts sequel is in the works and will be directed by the OG director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru.

The report states, “The makers are looking to make a sequel to ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. However, it is in a very early stage right now. They have just started the casting process for the film, so it is still in pre-production.”

The sequel will apparently be titled ‘Jaanam Teri Kasam’ and will not see the return of Rane or Hocane. “It will have a new cast; the makers did not want to repeat actors. The auditions for the lead roles are currently underway and after that, they will consider the supporting cast,” the source said.

The source further added, “‘Jaanam Teri Kasam’ will be a musical film. The makers are looking for a woman who can sing and has the look and style of a singer, who is 18-20 years old. The story of the film will be similar to ‘Aashiqui 2’.”

Earlier in an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Harshvardhan Rane had reacted to the audience’s demand for a sequel Talking about the film, he said, “The audience keeps asking when will the second part of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ come?” All I could tell them was that, because they didn’t buy tickets and watch the film in theatres, the second part never happened. I even wrote it in the flyers that I distributed during the promotion of ‘Dange’. When audiences watch our films in theatres, only then we get encouraged to make films.”

‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ was released in 2016. The songs of the film became quite popular, but the film failed to perform well at the box office.
