Samsung may bring back the S Pen for foldables, but not the Galaxy Z Fold 8
Samsung may be working on bringing back S Pen support for its foldable. However, the device in question is not the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Instead, it looks like the Korean giant’s upcoming iPhone Fold rival, the Galaxy Wide Fold, may get S Pen functionality. Here are all the details.

Samsung’s S Pen has been a fan favorite for years. The Korean giant’s stylus has been extensively used by consumers since its debut with the Galaxy Note. However, Samsung removed S Pen support from the Galaxy Z Fold line with the Z Fold 7 this year, leaving the Galaxy S25 Ultra as the only smartphone to get S Pen support. Now, rumors have surfaced that the Korean giant may bring back S Pen support in a foldable, but it is not the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Samsung’s alleged iPhone Fold rival may get S Pen support
According to tipster Lanczuk on Korean platform Naver, Samsung will likely bring S Pen functionality to the rumored Galaxy Wide Fold. The Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold is tipped to be a direct rival to Apple’s foldable iPhone with an expected aspect ratio of 4:3.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Wide Fold will be thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, measuring 8.9mm. This thickness could potentially allow Samsung to bring back S Pen support. Earlier this year, the company had claimed that it had removed the digitizer from the Z Fold 7 in pursuit of a slimmer design.
The Galaxy Wide Fold’s wider form factor could provide a better canvas for S Pen functionality.
However we expect the S Pen to not get an integrated slot inside the foldable device due to the limited space available on the foldable. Samsung never had a dedicated S Pen slot in the Z Fold series. The company provides you with a slot to keep the S Pen inside the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold, here’s what we know
Samsung is reportedly working on a new book-style foldable that will have a wider display than the existing Z Fold lineup. The device will compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold, as both devices are expected to come with similar aspect ratios. However if Samsung’s device comes with S Pen support, it could give it an edge over its Apple counterpart.
The Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold is believed to have a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch cover screen. Both screens will likely be AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.
There is very little information available regarding the specifications of this device, and we may have to wait for some time to get more details. However it appears that Samsung will launch the Wide Fold in the fall of 2026, around the same time as Apple launches a foldable iPhone.
samsung galaxy wide fold expected price
The expected price of the Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold remains unclear. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 was launched in India for Rs 1,74,999. While Apple is expected to launch its first foldable in the US for $2,400 (approximately Rs 2,15,000).
