Samsung has launched the One UI 8.5 beta program in India, introducing a suite of new features designed to enhance productivity, privacy and connectivity for Galaxy S25 series users. What’s new in One UI 8.5?

According to Samsung, One UI 8.5 brings notable upgrades for content creation. The updated Photo Assist function allows users to continuously edit images without having to save after each change, streamlining the creative workflow. The feature also lets users review the entire edit history, making it easier to select preferred versions and keep the best results.

Samsung’s file-sharing tool Quick Share has also been improved. The new version can recognize people in photos and actively suggest sending images directly to those contacts. This enhancement is intended to make the sharing process more intuitive and time-efficient for users managing large libraries of photos.

One UI 8.5 Connectivity

Connectivity across devices gets boosted with the introduction of cross-device features. Audio Broadcast takes advantage of LE Audio and Auracast technology, which enables users to communicate with nearby devices, such as when announcing information to groups, using the phone’s built-in microphone. This function is expected to be especially useful for collaborative or public settings.

Storage Share is another highlight, giving users the ability to view and access files from other Galaxy devices, including tablets and PCs, directly within the My Files app. Additionally, files on one’s phone can now be accessed from other Samsung devices such as TVs, making file management more flexible in the ecosystem.

One UI 8.5 Device Security

Device security is a major focus in One UI 8.5. Theft Protection keeps phones and their data safe if a device is lost or stolen. Other new security features include Failed Authentication Lock, which automatically locks the screen after repeated failed login attempts, and expanded identity checks to protect a wider range of settings.
