The new Galaxy Z series from Samsung is a hit. As analysts predicted, it set a new record for the pre-folded orders of foldable devices in South Korea.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip7 (and possibly Z FLIP7 Fe) watched 1.04 million pre-orders a week extended from July 15 to 21. It was at the top of the previous record set by the 1.02 million pre-order of Z5 generation. Even more importantly, it defeats last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 pre-order a solid 14% (which manages 910,000 pre-order).
Galaxy Z Fold 7 saw more pre-order than Z Flip7
Report by ETNEWS Some interesting data are included. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now the most popular model, accounting for 60% of the pre-order registered with three major carriers: SK Telecom, KT and LG U+. The report is not clearly mentioned of the Fe model, so we do not know how the remaining 40% are divided between two flips.
For reference, the partition last year was 60/40 in favor of Z Flip6. And in 2023 the difference was even more wider with a partition of 70/30 in favor of Z Flip5. This is the first time Guna has defeated Flip.

Demographic breakdown is also quite interesting. According to SK Telecom data, 83% of the Z fold7 buyers were men, while Z Flip7 slant the woman with 59%.
The specific buyer of a foldable phone is now older with more than 60% pre-order coming from people aged 30–50 years. For comparison, the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 came from half of their 20 and 30s in the 20s and 30s of the Z fold6 last year.
The most popular colors for Blue Shadow, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7
Finally, the most popular color for both fold and flip proved to be the new blue shade. The second most popular Pix was Jet Black for Z Fold 7 and Coral Red for Z Flip 7.
While this report is mainly focused on South Korea, it includes a tidbit about the Indian market-the Calaxy Z7 series saw 210,000 pre-pre-order in India in the first two days. It is comparable to pre-order for the Galaxy S25 phones earlier this year and is a record for foldables in the country.
