Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra leak hints at major camera upgrade, launch likely in February
Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, may come with a significant change on the camera front. According to the leak, the device will not only deliver better imaging results, but it may also come with a new design.
Samsung is preparing for the launch of its flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S26, in the coming weeks. The Korean giant is expected to include some notable upgrades in its next-generation devices. Now, leaks have revealed that the top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with major imaging upgrades and a new design. Here are all the details.
There may be a change in the design of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
Samsung has kept the design of its Ultra variants relatively the same since the Galaxy S22 Ultra in 2022 with minor improvements. However, that’s about to change, according to leaked images of dummy units of the Galaxy S26 series by tipster OnLeaks.
The images show a new integrated camera module on the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The S26 Ultra notably gets a triple camera module, along with two separate cutouts that accommodate its entire camera setup. The camera module looks largely similar to what we have seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Trifold. The reason for the large camera bump appears to be the thin chassis of the device.
Although this design brings something new to the Galaxy S series, it can also cause the phone to wobble when placed on a flat surface.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera Upgrade
On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a quad camera setup from its predecessor. The device will likely have a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, a 12-megapixel 3x telephoto, and a 50-megapixel 5x periscope zoom lens.
However, according to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is doubling down on image processing, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with some notable improvements. According to the leak, the brightness of the device will be reduced due to the improved lens with the new coating.
These enhancements are expected to help the device capture clearer images in direct sunlight or when the light source is pointed directly at the camera.
In addition to hardware refinements, Samsung is also reportedly addressing the skin tone reproduction issue seen on previous Galaxy S series cameras. This is likely to result in more accurate skin tones in photos and videos.
Apart from the camera changes, the S26 Ultra is expected to be powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 chipset, manufactured using a 2nm process in select regions. While other markets will get Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy.
Samsung Galaxy S26 series launch and price
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2026 in San Francisco, USA.
Reports suggest that the price of the device may increase compared to its predecessor due to increased manufacturing and component costs. However, no official statement has come yet.
For reference, the Galaxy S25 was launched in India for Rs 80,999, with the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra priced at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively.
