Even though the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has just been launched, rumors around its successor are already making rounds. The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is estimated to be launched in early 2026. Like its predecessor, the S26 series can debut with three smartphones: standard Galaxy S26, S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, since the S25 Edge launch is yet to be announced, its successor is still in an unknown area. But we know some details around high-end Galaxy S26 Ultra. Recent rumors indicate that the phone may carry a larger battery than its predecessor. However, to do this, the camera system of the Galaxy S26 Ultra may have to pay the price.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Big Battery but one-less camera lens

According to the @vhsss_god on X (East Twitter), Samsung Galaxy S26 is searching for stacked battery technology for Ultra, which may be able to cross the 5,000mAh capacity of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to reports, the company has already developed a prototype with a 5,500mAh stacked cell.

Interestingly, an earlier report suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could also have a large 7,000mAh battery. Samsung is also asked to experiment with a silicon-carbon battery, which can allow the entire Galaxy S26 lineup to claim much higher capabilities than the S25 series.

However, promoting this battery may cut some edges. Tipster also said that Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S26 Ultra with just three rear cameras. The final Galaxy S Ultra model was S20 Ultra to facilitate the triple-camera setup, which was also the first in the series.

Reports suggest that South Korean tech giants are already testing a prototype with this configuration. This prototype includes 200-megapixel main sensor, 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and 200-megapixel telephoto camera with 4X optical zoom.

Next year’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to abandon one of its zoom lenses, marking Samsung’s camera strategy. However, the company is allegedly reviving the variable aperture technology, the first feature seen in the Galaxy S9 series. While Samsung retained this functionality in some later models, it was eventually phased out with the Galaxy S20 lineup. Its return suggests that low-light photography and more depth control have been focused on a focus, possibly made for missing zoom lenses.

While the battery boost is a positive step, the three-camera setup may disappoint some fans. But it is notable that this information is only based on rumors and leaks, therefore, it should be read with a pinch of salt.
