Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is rumored to be getting a new addition this year, with the company set to release the Galaxy S25 Slim alongside the regular S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. The S25 Slim, as its name suggests, promises to be the thinnest model in the series, and recent leaks are a closer look at what to expect.
The Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to be remarkably thin. A recent leak suggests that the phone will be just 6.4 mm thick. For comparison, the Galaxy S24+ is slightly thicker at 7.7mm. This will make the new model an attractive option for those who prefer a sleeker, more compact design without compromising too much on performance. However, that thin profile may come with trade-offs, especially when it comes to battery life and heat management.
The Galaxy S25 Slim is rumored to have a 6.7-inch to 6.8-inch display, which would put it in the same size range as the Galaxy S25+ model. However, the slim design may affect the overall battery capacity, which is expected to be between 3,000 mAh and 4,000 mAh. This is disappointing for a flagship, especially considering that mid-range Chinese phones like the Poco X7 Pro already have a 6,550mAh Silicon Carbon battery under the hood. Samsung and Apple have not yet adopted the new silicon carbon technology to increase battery density, and it is likely that the S25 Slim will struggle to keep up in this area.
On the performance front, the Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM. It will run Android 15 with One UI 7 from day one. Early benchmark results from the prototype show a single-core score of 3,005 and a multi-core score of 6,945. While these scores may seem low, it’s important to remember that prototypes often yield low results. The slim design of the phone could play a role here, potentially affecting the heat dissipation capabilities of the device, which could impact performance.
The Galaxy S25 Slim is rumored to have a triple-camera setup that includes a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. Despite the S25 Slim’s more compact form, this camera array is likely to compete with other flagship phones in terms of photography and video quality.
While the design and features are certainly exciting, some questions remain as to whether the compromise for slimness would be worth it. Battery life is likely to be a concern, and with the phone’s performance potentially hindered by its thin frame, it will be interesting to see how the Galaxy S25 Slim performs once it launches in 2025.
Samsung is expected to reveal more about the S25 Slim during its Unpacked event on January 22. Rumors suggest that the phone will not hit the market until the end of the year.
