According to rumors and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is scheduled to release on January 22, 2025. The series is expected to have four models: Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 Slim. Rumor has it that the company will unveil the first three models during the Galaxy Unpacked event (to be held in the coming month), but the Galaxy S25 Slim may take longer to launch. Although the company has not announced these details yet, the leak has also revealed some of the key features that will come with the flagship series. Recent reports have listed two unique features that could come with the Galaxy S25 phones: car crash detection and advanced Gemini features for free.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series: car accident detection
Samsung’s next-generation flagship models are expected to feature car crash detection. This is expected to be a life-saving feature, which can help detect if the user’s car is about to crash and call the emergency number. According to a report by Android Authority, leaked files suggest that Samsung may introduce a car crash detection feature in its devices. The feature is rumored to use a mixed sensor that combines data from various dedicated sensors like accelerometer and GPS to identify car accidents.
Currently, this functionality is disabled, even in the latest One UI version. The report says similar references to the feature were present in Samsung’s software up to One UI 5.1.1 and have been seen on devices like the Galaxy S24 series and Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones. A hidden system app, called MocaMobile, appears to be part of the operating system, containing code to enable and disable the car crash virtual sensors. However, this feature lacks a user interface at this time.
For reference, its competitors, the Google Pixel and the Apple iPhone 14, both also have this feature.
Samsung Galaxy S25 will offer advanced Gemini features for free
Another report also hints that Google may collaborate with Samsung to bundle its premium AI features with the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. This potential partnership was exposed during a teardown of the beta version of the Google app (v15.52.37), where several lines of code hinted at the proposal.
The discovered code references both Google One and Samsung with the word “upsell”, suggesting the initiative may be part of a broader strategy. By providing free access to its advanced AI capabilities, especially Gemini Advanced features, Google may aim to introduce users to its premium services in the hope that they will subscribe after the trial period ends.
Interestingly, the additional strings of the code clearly mention “Samsung_S25”, linking the offer to the Galaxy S25 series. Speculations suggest that the free subscription period may vary by model. For example, the standard Galaxy S25 may include three to six months of Gemini Advanced Access, while the higher-tier Plus and Ultra variants may offer an extended trial of nine months to a year.
If true, the move could boost the appeal of the Galaxy S25 lineup by bundling cutting-edge AI tools, creating additional value for buyers, while helping Google’s AI offerings reach a wider audience.
