This year’s Galaxy S Fan Edition is here. The upgrade takes the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE closer to the Galaxy S25 Plus, at least feature-wise. However, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE can still be found at a slightly lower price in some European retailers.
So you might be wondering how much value you’re getting for around €100 extra if you go with the new S25 FE. Let’s find out.

Following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S lineup, the S25 FE has lost a few grams and has a slimmer profile compared to the previous generation. As a result, the S25 FE is significantly thinner than the S24 FE and it is also slightly lighter.
From a construction point of view, there is a subtle difference. The new S25 FE uses an advanced armor aluminum frame, which is reportedly more flexible than the standard aluminum frame found on the S24 FE. Both retain Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and back.

On paper, both devices should share the same 6.7-inch OLED panel, but during our testing, we found that the Galaxy S25 FE gets an LTPO panel this year. This means the screen can dial up to 1Hz and adapt to different video frame rates.
However, from a user’s perspective, the difference is minor. Both panels still have the same diagonal, resolution, refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. They also score similarly in our brightness test.
battery life
Both devices have the same chipset (Exynos 2400 vs Exynos 2400e), similar displays, and similar batteries, with the S25 FE (4,900 mAh) ahead of the S24 FE (4,700 mAh). So it’s no surprise that both show comparable battery life results. Specifically, we see a slight increase in video streaming runtime in favor of the new S25 FE.

Charging speeds are slightly faster, with the S25 FE rated at 45W charging compared to 25 watts on the S24 FE. The new model takes the same amount of time to fully charge, but it’s faster at 15 and 30 minutes.

The Galaxy S25 FE’s speakers scored a little lower on our loudness test, but they sound much better than the S24 FE. The new model has more clear and clean tones and mids, without sacrificing bass. Both handsets offer a fair amount of bass, but the S25 FE’s sound is more refined.
Display
The two Fan Edition models have very similar chipsets. The S24 FE gets a lighter version of the Exynos 2400 called the Exynos 2400e, while the S25 FE gets the full version of the chipset. In fact, the difference is minor as the main CPU core of the Exynos 2400e is downclocked to 3.1 GHz, while the Exynos 2400 has a 3.2 GHz core. Rest of the hardware remains the same.

Memory configuration does not differ. Both devices have 8GB of RAM, regardless of the storage variant, and the base storage is 128GB, which goes up to 512GB.

The difference in raw performance is quite small. The S25 FE performs only 10% better than the S24 FE in the pure CPU Geekbench 6 benchmark. The same is true for the GPU, according to the 3DMark Wildlife Extreme benchmark.
camera comparison
On paper, both the handsets have similar camera hardware on the back. They have a 50MP main camera, which is joined by an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide unit.
The only innovation on the S25 FE appears to be the selfie camera, which now aligns with the more expensive Galaxy S models. It uses a 12MP sensor, although it is slightly smaller than the 10MP sensor used by the S24 FE.
image quality
The camera samples below are taken at different times and are not taken simultaneously. We have taken great care to achieve uniform framing where possible.
Both phones deliver comparable image quality at all focal lengths, but especially with the main camera.
We found a big difference in their ultrawide photos. They appear to be faster on the older Galaxy S24 FE.

The 2x photos of both phones are quite similar.
However, we again prefer the 3X photos of the older Galaxy S24 FE. Contrast and colors are comparable, but the S25 FE offers a brighter detail.

Our observation continues from daylight scenes to night scenes.
The Galaxy S24 FE captures better ultrawide photos. As for the main cameras, they take similar photos.

The 2X photos are once again identical. The 3x camera on the Galaxy S24 FE performs better in low light conditions.

The selfie camera on the Galaxy S24 FE is quite good, but the new selfie camera on the S25 FE produces decent selfies. They’re a little more detailed, with a wider dynamic range and slightly more vibrant colors.

Below we have some frame grabs of videos taken by both phones at each focal length, so it’s easy to compare them to each other. These videos were taken at different times and were not shot simultaneously. We have taken great care to achieve uniform framing where possible.
The main cameras on both phones capture similar videos with slight differences in general processing.
As far as the two other cameras are concerned, we again prefer the output of the Galaxy S24 FE.

decision
With both handsets offering 7 major OS upgrades, they’ll remain relevant for years to come, so you shouldn’t base your decision solely on the release date. It doesn’t really matter in the long run.
However, if you are okay with spending around €100 more for that 10% better performance; With 20% fast charging in 15/30 minutes and good sounding speakers, you should definitely choose the Galaxy S25 FE.
As far as our opinion is concerned, despite the upgrades on paper the Galaxy S25 FE doesn’t fully convince us that it’s worth the premium price. The older S24 FE offers largely the same user experience overall – it has the same display and comparable battery life, and in terms of performance, it’s not far behind. And it consistently took the same or better photos and videos in all scenarios except selfies.
