Samsung’s Galaxy Ring was announced at MWC 2024, but it took almost five months for us to get its full specifications, price, and availability details. It may be the smallest member of the Galaxy family, but the Galaxy Ring is arguably the most impressive gadget at today’s Galaxy Unpacked event. It’s the result of years of research and development in health and activity tracking and is set to be the next big thing in the world of health monitoring.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is available in black, silver and gold colours. It is available in US ring sizes 5-13, all made of grade 5 titanium alloy. The design of the ring is concave and the edges taper towards the middle. All the health tracking sensors, battery and charging pins are on the inside, hidden under a layer of epoxy resin.

The Galaxy Ring is IP68 rated and 10ATM waterproof, so you can wear it with confidence in all weather conditions and even during swimming sessions. The smallest size 5 Galaxy Ring measures 7.0mm x 2.6mm and weighs just 2.3 grams while the size 13 version weighs 3 grams.

Samsung will send a free sizing kit with each Galaxy Ring order and you are then advised to wear the sample on your finger for at least 24 hours before confirming your final choice. You can also try on different sizes of rings at a Samsung retail store and choose the right ring on the spot.

Galaxy Ring Sizing Kit
The Galaxy Ring operates on Bluetooth LE 5.4 and will require a smartphone running on Android 11 or later with the Samsung Health app. The good news is that users will not need to buy any additional subscription to access their health and activity data.

The Galaxy Ring also supports pinch gesture control. You can pinch your thumb and index finger while wearing the ring to control your Galaxy smartphone and take photos or turn off alarms. It is also compatible with Samsung Find and can flash using its built-in LED light when misplaced.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Ring tracks standard health parameters, including heart rate via an optical PPG sensor and skin temperature thanks to built-in sensors. Samsung is also betting big on sleep tracking with the Galaxy Ring, with its low-profile design making it comfortable to wear 24/7. The Galaxy Ring’s sleep tracking includes an active sleep score with snoring analysis and additional metrics like activity during sleep, sleep latency, heart and respiratory rates.

You also get live heart rate monitoring and automatic workout detection with heart rate alerts. Samsung is also including an Energy Score that takes into account your Activity and Sleep scores to create a combined daily score out of 100.
The smaller size Galaxy Rings (sizes 5-7) have 17 mAh battery cells that are rated for up to 6 days of use on a single charge. Sizes 8-11 have 18 mAh batteries that are rated for up to 6 days of use while the size 12 and 13 models have 22.5 mAh batteries and are rated for up to 7 days of use.

Speaking of charging, the Galaxy Ring has a great charging case that’s similar to a pair of wireless earbuds. It has a 361mAh cell that provides up to 20 full recharges for the smaller ring size.
Samsung Galaxy Ring price is $399/€449/£399 and will be available for pre-order later today. The open sale is set to begin on July 24.
