A Samsung smartphone, said to be Galaxy A36, was listed on the BIS database with model number SM-A366E/DS. DS in the model number stands for dual-SIM support. The same model has also been spotted on Samsung’s global support pages, including in Kazakhstan and Russia, confirming its association with the Galaxy A36.

Although the BIS listing doesn’t reveal much about the specifications of the Galaxy A36, other certifications and benchmark numbers have already given an idea of what to expect. For starters, the Galaxy A36 will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. The Geekbench listing reveals that the chipset has four cores clocked at 2.40GHz and four cores clocked at 1.80GHz, paired with an Adreno 710 GPU for graphics.

The Galaxy A36 scored 967 points in single-core and 2,750 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench. In comparison, the previous generation Galaxy A35 powered by the Exynos 1480 scored 1011 and 2905 in single-core and multi-core in our testing. Additionally, the device is expected to come with 6GB of RAM in its base configuration, though higher RAM variants may also be available. Samsung will likely ship the Galaxy A36 with Android 15 out of the box, running on the latest version of its custom One UI 7 skin.

Another notable feature of the Galaxy A36 is its charging capabilities. The IECEE certification has confirmed support for 45W wired fast charging, which is an upgrade over the 25W support seen in many of Samsung’s existing mid-range devices.

Samsung is also reportedly making some changes to the camera hardware. Unlike the Galaxy A35’s 13-megapixel front camera, the Galaxy A36 is rumored to have a new 12-megapixel selfie camera. Although the megapixel count is a bit low, Samsung could focus on improving image quality through a better sensor or software optimizations.

While we wait for more concrete details, several certifications give us a somewhat clearer idea of what to expect from the Galaxy A36. Compared to the Galaxy A35, the upcoming model features a new processor, faster charging, as well as an upgraded selfie snapper.
