Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was recently seen in Raj and DK web series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, attended Business Today’s Most Powerful Women program for a session. Star and start-up: fame, fans, fortuneIn the session, he discussed various things, and this included him entering Hollywood and talking about bringing films from the South into mainstream cinema.

Reflecting on his journey and ambitions, Prabhu commented on the growing opportunities for actors across borders. “I think it’s a great time to be an actress right now,” she said, noting that inclusivity is a regular topic of conversation in her professional circles.

“Wherever I live, people talk about it (inclusivity), so I don’t think it’s too far from reality,” the Eega actor said.

Prabhu also explained why it took so long for South Indian cinema to gain international fame despite high quality storytelling.

He admitted, “I haven’t thought much about it, but I think South Indians can be great filmmakers, but are not as strong at marketing.” He credited filmmaker SS Rajamouli for changing the Indian cinema landscape with Baahubali.

He said, “Rajamouli sir really opened the doors. I think, for the first time, he thought, ‘Let’s see, I think this movie has wings,’ and I’m really glad he did that.”

Addressing the current trend of remaking or adapting South Indian films for a wider audience, Prabhu said, “I don’t think anything is impossible now.”

Samantha was recently seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny opposite Varun Dhawan. Directed by Raj and DK, the series also stars Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher and many others.

The six-episode show released on Prime Video on 6 November.
