Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu collaborated with UN Women India for the 2025 16 Days of Activism campaign, highlighting the growing issue of online abuse targeting women and girls.

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has partnered with UN Women India to support the 2025 edition of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence running from November 25 to December 10. The campaign, focusing on “UNITE to end digital violence against all women and girls”, addresses the growing prevalence of online abuse, including targeted harassment and technology-facilitated threats to women and girls.
Samantha, who has over 37 million followers on social media platforms, brings both personal experience and public influence to this initiative. Through a newly released video, she discusses the digital threats women face, such as stalking, harassment, doxxing, deepfakes and image manipulation, underscoring the urgency of the campaign’s message.
Reflecting on her involvement, Samantha described the personal impact of online abuse. Samantha Ruth Prabhu said, “Violence no longer just happens in physical spaces; it stalks us on screens, silencing our voices and destroying reputations.” He highlighted how digital violence compromises the sense of security.
She further explained that her experiences as a public figure have shown how deeply online abuse affects women, often reducing their self-confidence and sense of safety. The campaign aims to promote awareness and action on these issues among digital platform users and stakeholders.

Samantha stressed the need for more robust systems to deal with online abuse. “I am honored to partner with UN Women India to demand platform accountability, strengthen legal protections, and remind everyone that behind every derogatory comment or doctored image is a real person whose dignity must be protected,” she said.
The collaboration with UN Women India is in line with broader calls for technology companies and legal institutions to take stronger action against perpetrators and provide better support for victims of online abuse.
Recently, Samantha appeared in a cameo in her production debut ‘Subham’, which received favorable reviews. She is currently busy with her next project, ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’, as she comes back to professional life after a hiatus due to myositis, an autoimmune condition. Meanwhile, she is also making headlines for her alleged relationship with director Raj Nidimoru.
