YouTuber arrested from Rajasthan sent to police custody
We had earlier reported how a YouTuber named Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar was arrested from Bundi in Rajasthan after he publicly threatened to kill Salman. The 25-year-old was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and was recently brought to Mumbai.
In the latest development, a Crime Branch official has revealed that the culprit has been sent to police custody till June 18 by the court.
In the video that led to his arrest, Gujjar reportedly claimed, as told to an official and as reported by the Times of India, “Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and other gang members are with me, and I am going to kill Salman Khan because he has not apologised yet.”
The police managed to track down the culprit by tracing the IP address of the video recorded and uploaded from the Rajasthan highway. DCP Datta Nalawade told the Times of India that given the seriousness of the case, an anti-extortion team of the Crime Branch led by Inspector Arun Thorat was sent to Rajasthan to nab Gujar from Bundi village.
Police said Banwarilal tried to fool everyone using a fake name and email address but was traced through his mobile number. He has been charged under Section 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code as well as relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Officials are also conducting a background check to find out his criminal record.
The whole case started on April 14 when two bike-borne men fired four rounds of bullets outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments. So far, the police have arrested six people in the case, one of whom died in police custody. The person who is openly taking responsibility in this case is jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol, who is already on India’s wanted list.
