Saira Banu says that she should not be called AR Rahman’s ex -wife: We are not divorced
AR Rahman’s wife Saira Banu clarified that he has separated, but not divorced, addressing recent rumors. She cites her health issues as a reason and wishes Rahman well.

Saira Banu, wife of composer AR Rahman, has issued a statement in which it is clarified that they have separated but have not been divorced. He requested that he should not be referred to as his ex -wife.
Saira suggested that her separation was due to her health issues. He also wished Rahman a quick recovery and urged his family not to give him extra stress.
In a statement, he said, “Aslam Alakum, this Saira Rahman is here, I wish him a quick recovery. I just got the news that he had chest pain and an angio was performed on it. With the blessings of the Almighty, he is now healing, he is now healing, and nothing is concerned.”
“I also wanted to tell everyone that we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife. It’s just that we have separated due to our health issues. After the last two years, I have been doing well, and I did not want to tension him. Thank you.
Rahman and Saira got married in 1995. However, in November 2024, Sangeet Ustad and wife declared their separation. Saira’s lawyer Vandana Shah issued an official statement about the separation of the couple’s decision.
“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has taken a difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. R Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional stress in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple found that stress and difficulties have created an inaccessible difference between them, one that neither the party feels capable of bridge at this time. Mrs. Saira insisted that she has excluded this decision from pain and suffering. Smt. Saira requested the public for secrecy and understanding during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life, ”the statement states.
Both three children are parents- Khatija, Rahema and Amin.
