Almost six decades ago today, on October 22, the then Bollywood heartthrob actor Dilip Kumar got engaged to Saira Banu. This happened in 1966, but Banu remembers this special day of her life equally fondly. As the day turns 58, Banu shares highlights from the celebrations and reflects on what love means.

The couple married soon after, on October 11, 1966.At that time Saira Banu was just 22 years old, while Dilip Kumar was 44 years old. They were married for 55 years, until Kumar’s death on July 7, 2021, at the age of 98.
