Saina Nehwal says Shraddha Kapoor is still her top choice if the biopic is made again

Badminton player Saina Nehwal has said that even if her biopic is made again, she would choose actress Shraddha Kapoor to portray her on screen. His comments come amid attention drawn by actor Parineeti Chopra for unfollowing him on Instagram.
Saina Nehwal originally chose Shraddha before Parineeti was cast in the lead role in the 2021 film, Saina.
Shraddha first choice for biopic
In an interview with journalist Vicky Lalwani, the 35-year-old was asked who she would like to cast in her role if the biopic was made again. He immediately replied by taking Shraddha’s name. The actor was initially cast for the role, but reportedly had to withdraw due to health issues before filming began.
Saina stressed that the 38-year-old was always her first choice for the role. She said, “We are still in touch and I have met her several times. She is a very sweet girl. She had agreed to do the film, but due to dengue she had to opt out of the film.”

Reflecting on her working relationship with Parineeti, Saina revealed that their interactions were mostly professional. He shared, “Friendship requires spending a lot of time together, but there was not enough time because the film had to release quickly. We were not meeting every day.”
He further added that the actor put significant effort into preparing for the role, learning the technical aspects of badminton and closely observing Nehwal’s mannerisms to portray her accurately on screen.

The 37-year-old actor, who recently welcomed her first child with politician Raghav Chadha, has not commented on the social media development.
