Saif Ali Khan’s attacker Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad was arrested in Thane on Sunday. A day later, it is reported that Mumbai Police is likely to recreate the scene at the actor’s Bandra home, which was repeatedly attacked by the intruder with a knife.
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, Mumbai Police officials said that they will take Shariful to Saif Ali Khan’s house where the incident actually took place. During these five days they will be taken to the building to recreate the crime scene as part of the investigation.
The police statement further mentioned that various investigation teams were formed to investigate the crime. A case has been registered under IPC sections including sections 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6) and 331(7) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). According to the police, the accused was planning to flee to his native village when he was detained at Hiranandani Estate in Thane. It was revealed that the accused is a native of Jhalokati district of Bangladesh.
After several days of hard work and investigation, Mumbai Police on Sunday arrested Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad from Thane. After the arrest, an official press conference was held by DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, revealing that the arrested accused is prima facie a Bangladeshi national.
He also revealed that the attacker used multiple identities, including Bijoy Das, Vijay Das, Mohammad Ilyas and BJ. It is said that he changed his name to Vijay Das after entering India illegally. Gedam said, “He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then stayed in the area around Mumbai. The accused worked in a housekeeping agency.”
After his arrest, he was produced in Bandra Court, from where he was sent to police custody for 5 days.
Meanwhile, Saif is undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. While a team of doctors treating him had earlier confirmed that the actor is recovering, on Sunday his sister Soha Ali Khan attended an event and assured about the same while speaking to the media. He said, “We are very grateful and we feel very blessed and grateful that nothing worse happened. Thank you for all your well wishes.”
