The Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday that a Jaishankar, a Foreign Minister, concluded his journey to Britain after confirming the strong relations between India and the United Kingdom and injecting a new pace in a broader strategic partnership.
Shri Jishankar concluded the journey with his visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium organized by his counterpart Foreign Secretary David Lammi.
“A good match at the Great Company,” the Foreign Minister said in a social media post on Sunday, which is the last day of its almost a week -long tour of Britain and Ireland.
He attended Mr. Lami for a Tottenham vs. Bornmouth Football match at the stadium, which falls within the former constituency of Tottenham in North London.
The statement, which resumed several high-level meetings of Mr. Jaishankar, include “comprehensive” talks with Mr. Lammy in the Shaving House, discussion with British Prime Minister Kir Stormer, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Reneer, Business and Business Secretary Jonathan Rendolds and Home Secretary Yett Cooper.
The visit to the UK included the inauguration of India’s new consulate in Belfast and Manchester and engagement with government, businesses, academics and leading stakeholders of Indian migrants.
Mea said, “The visit confirmed the strong relations between India and the United Kingdom, injecting the fresh pace in the India-UK broad strategic partnership.”
Mea said, “This strengthened the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation in a developed global scenario from political, economic and people from people.”
Last week, with a specific context of EAM’s talks with Starmer at 10 Downing Street, the Ministry said that the two leaders mentioned “positive speed” in bilateral relations, especially with the free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations.
The MEA said, “He discussed major global issues, including strengthening technology cooperation, deepening people’s relations with people, and Ukraine struggle,” said the MEA.
During his conversation with Mr. Lamy, Mr. Jaishankar said that the full spectrum of India-UK relations has been covered, including strategic coordination, political cooperation, business talks, education, technology, mobility and exchange of people from people.
“He reviewed the progress on the new Roadmap 2.0, which is being discussed by both sides which will provide fresh energy and new pace for comprehensive strategic partnership. He said that ideas were also exchanged on regional and global development including Ukraine conflict, West Asia, Bangladesh and Commonwealth.
Both sides have stated that their commitment has been confirmed to increase trade and investment opportunities, reduce business obstacles and to emphasize the need to expand market access.
Regarding two new consulates, Mea said the move fulfilled the long -standing demand of the Indian migrants, strengthened India’s diplomatic outreach and took an important step to strengthen India’s presence to facilitate increased trade, trade, technology and educational relations with Britain.
