Rishab Shetty – A star with divine powers of storytelling
Born on 7 July 1983 in Kadri Mohalla of Mangaluru city, Rishab Shetty started his schooling as Prashant Shetty in Udupi district. Right from his early days, the actor used to perform Yakshagana plays in Kundapura.
After moving to Bangalore to pursue a B.Com degree, he started working in a variety of jobs including selling water cans, real estate and even hotel work. Since he was also working in several film jobs at the same time, Rishab completed a diploma course from the Government Film and TV Institute in Bangalore.
Later, the actor started working on several sets as a clap boy, spot boy and assistant director. During that time, he met Rakshit Shetty and they became his friends.
After working in films for several years, Rishabh finally got a lead role in the 2012 film Tughlaq directed by Arvind Kaushik. In the following years, the actor worked in two more films, namely Attahasa and Pawan Kumar’s Lucia.
However, in 2014 Rishab Shetty debuted with a popular movie called Ulidavaru Kandanthe, directed by none other than Rakshith Shetty. This much-loved movie depicted the death of a man, which was told from the perspective of five different people.
Despite not doing well at the box office, the film has garnered a huge fan following over the years and has become a part of the Kannada New Generation cinema era. Moving forward, Rishab Shetty took up direction for the first time with the crime thriller Ricky starring Rakshith in the lead.

After directing films like Kirik Party and Sarkari Hi.P.Shale, Rishab Shetty finally became the lead hero of the 2019 film Bell Bottom. Set in the 1980s, this crime comedy film featured Rishab as Detective Diwakar and also featured actors like Haripriya, Achyuth Kumar, Yogaraj Bhat and Pramod Shetty in lead roles.
Over the next few years, Rishab played lead roles and cameo roles in several films such as Katha Sangama, Avane Srimannarayana, Hero and Harikathe Alla Girikathe. The actor also worked with Raj B Shetty for the 2021 gangster action film Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, making it one of the most impressive films of recent times.
The film and the performances of the lead actors were praised by prominent personalities like Anurag Kashyap, Rana Daggubati, Prashanth Neel and Shiva Rajkumar. Apart from this, the remake rights of the film have also been bought by Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Despite his cinematic journey over the years, the actor finally reaped the lion’s share of his stardom with his next film Kantara. Directed by Rishab, the film narrates the story of Kadubettu Siva, a Kambala champion who clashes with a noble forest officer.
The making and execution of the film made it a sensation, taking the audiences by complete surprise. The film eventually became the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time and was also screened at the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama section, where it won the Silver Peacock – Special Jury Award.
The film’s critical and commercial impact made it a well-received film in India and even the Karnataka government introduced a monthly allowance for Butha Kola artistes above the age of 60.

Rishab Shetty Personal Life
Rishab Shetty married Pragati Shetty in 2017. Pragati is a software professional and is also known as a costume designer for films like Bell Bottom and Kantara.
Apart from this, she also played a small role as Raja’s wife in Rishabh’s film. The couple also has two children: Ranveer Shetty and Radya Shetty.

Rishab Shetty is all set to bring the next installment in the world of Kantara titled, Kantara: Chapter 1. The period action thriller will serve as a prequel to the 2021 film, which the makers will release in 2025 in multiple languages ​​like Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.
