In short

  • Kannada actor Vijay Raghavendra’s ‘Ripon Swami’ trailer out
  • The trailer never saw the actor in a grit avatar
  • The film is scheduled to release in theaters on August 29

Kannada actor Vijay Raghavendra is back in a striking new avatar with ‘Ripon Swamy’. The recently released trailer offered more insight into Ripon Swamy’s gritty world. While it was thrilling, it also gives up a pinch of skepticism.

Ever since the announcement poster was released, he was shown intensely as a title character, this gray shade has an expectation to see the ‘Chinnari Muta’ actor.

Two minutes, the 48-second trailer established a mystery around the village of Ripon Swammy and the fictional Malnad of the Bachna Copa, which moves forward to establish conflicts and deaths in a village around him. It ends with the question of loyalty among the characters and what Ripon chooses between victory and life.

Directed by Kishore Mudubidier, the trailer showed Vijay Raghavendra as a gritty villain character, which feared and hate many people in his village. The plot summary reads: “The story comes out after the mysterious suicide of Ripon Swami, leading to a mark of mystery, drama and suspense,” advancing the conspiracy.

However, there are moments in the trailer that invite skepticism, surprising one whether the film shown in the trailer or if it was a compilation of its best shots. Many shots do very artificial and staging, which can be distracted, especially in a story that requires a raw and innovative story to be hypnotized.

Along with Vijay Raghavendra, ‘Ripon Swammy’ includes Ashwini Chandrashekhar, Prakash Tomindu, Vajradier Jain, Yamuna Srinidhi and Mohan Sheni.

Malayalam music director Samuel AB has composed the score, while Ranaghanath CM and Shashank Narayan have handled cinematography and editing respectively. The film is produced by Panchanana films.

‘Ripon Swami’ was released in theaters on August 29.
