Bollywood’s famous Kapoor family has been contributing to the Hindi film industry for 95 years. From Prithviraj Kapoor to Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, this family has produced many great artists over four generations since 1929.
The Kapoor family lost two of its third-generation stalwarts Rishi Kapoor (2020) and Rajiv Kapoor (2021) within a year. Rishi’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor has revealed how the family dealt with the loss.
Riddhima Kapoor talks about father Rishi Kapoor and uncle Rajiv Kapoor
In a recent interview with Anushka Arora on her YouTube channel, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni spoke about losing her father Rishi Kapoor and uncle Rajiv Kapoor and how the family dealt with their demise.
“Since then, we have all become closer. We care for each other a little more. This has made our family very close. So many members of our (entire) family have passed away, we have all become closer and united,” Riddhima said.
“We call each other every other day. We’re on FaceTime. We don’t necessarily meet every day, but we keep in touch,” he added.

Riddhima also spoke about the new additions to the Kapoor family, Ranbir Kapoor’s wife, actress Alia Bhatt and their daughter Rhea. The jewellery designer revealed that she calls Rhea “strawberry” and her daughter calls her “boo”.
He told that his daughter Samaira Kapoor calls her brother Ranbir Kapoor as “RK”.
Riddhima further revealed that she had asked Samaira to call him “mamaji” or “chacha”, however, the Brahmastra actor wants her to call him by his initials.
After Rishi Kapoor’s death, Riddhima Kapoor wrote a post about him
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni often shares pictures of her late father Rishi Kapoor on Instagram. In 2022, Riddhima shared a framed picture of her father and wished him on his birth anniversary.
Soon after his demise in 2020, Riddhima mourned her father’s demise on her Instagram handle. She wrote an emotional note in the caption. An excerpt from her post read, “RIP my strongest warrior I will miss you every day.”
The caption further said that she will miss talking to him on FaceTime.
Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018. He went to New York for his treatment and returned in September 2019. A year later, the late actor was hospitalised due to breathing problems. He passed away on April 30, 2020.
Rishi Kapoor is remembered for his roles in films like Nagina, Naseeb, Chandni, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Damini, Amar Akbar Anthony, Agneepath, Love Aaj Kal, Deewana, Laila Majnu, Karz and many more.
He was last seen posthumously in the film Sharmaji Namkeen. The actor could not complete the film and then his role was offered to Paresh Rawal. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the film will release in 2022.
Rajiv Kapoor suffered a heart attack on February 9, 2021. At the time of his demise, Rajiv was living with his brother, veteran actor Randhir Kapoor. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by doctors.
Rajiv’s most notable performance was in the 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. It was co-written and directed by his father, actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
He acted in his posthumous and last film Toolsidas Jr. The film will be released in 2022.
