Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are one of the most popular couples of Bollywood. During an interview with Brides Today in 2020, Richa Chadha had given a glimpse at her boyfriend Ali Fazal’s thoughtful yet sweet proposal. He recalled that the Mirzapur actor had planned a dinner on a small and secluded island in the Maldives, which he had hoped for for his birthday, and not for Ali’s proposal.
However, Ali popped the question in the most unexpected way. She shared, “We had just finished eating and were drinking champagne when Ali casually asked me to marry him. He didn’t get down on one knee, nor did he have a ring, but it was all good. “After that, he took a long 10-minute nap on the sand – I think it was because he was stressed about the proposal!”
In the same interview, Richa also admitted that she was the first person to confess her feelings to Fazal. He remembers watching the 1992 biographical comedy film, Chaplin, at his home. She finds that her now husband is enjoying the movie and is happy that she has found someone with similar tastes.
“That’s when I said, ‘It’s really sweet, I love you.’ For him,” she shared. However, it took three months for Fazal to respond to his profession and say three magic words to the actress.
During the conversation, Ali also admitted that as Richa believes, he fell in love with her because of her clumsiness. According to him, when Richa is eating, the food will be moving fast and the cutlery will definitely fall. She also recalled one of the Hiramandi actress’ most embarrassing moments in Venice.
The actor revealed during a fine dining event, Judi Dench was sitting at the next table and a bean flew off Richa’s plate. Richa calls this her “pretty lady moment”.
Ali and Richa got married on October 4, 2022, and earlier this year welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on July 16, 2024.
