In the lead roles in Kamal Haasan and Simbu, Thug Life hit a big screen on 5 June 2025. After the release, the film is getting mixed-to-negative reviews, but director Karthik Subaraj otherwise said.
In a recent post on social media, the filmmaker was seen talking about Kamal Haasan starrer and appreciated it with kind words. With a right -up, the retro director said, “Most of the scenes felt OG #Manii Sir Vibes and re -taken … it was liked. #Thuglife.
Continuing his words, the director praised Silambarson TR for his swag and appreciated the entire artists for his performance. Subbej also concluded how AR Rahman and Dope Ravi K. Chandran woven their magic in the film.

While the words of the director may be of Anand, Neetzens feels that there is a different attitude towards it. On X (East Twitter), many users said with a user, “Hope you saw the same version as we did. Nothing like this happened in our version.”
Another similar user said, “The same content/copy paste for big star films, brother. So far seriously review.”

Talking about the film, there is a story of a gangster in thugs life, a young boy, Amarran, adopting Amar, after his biological father’s death. Years later, the Foster son became a malignant member of the mafia.
After a dispute and imprisonment, Sathivale returns to his home to see his empire only under Amarran’s control. With enmity between them, the rest of the film focuses on the bad blood shared by a once loved father and son.
With Hassan and Strat in the Lead, the film had a lot in Trisha Krishnan, Nasar, Jujee George, Aishwarya Lectmi and lead roles.
On the other hand, Karthik Subbej was seen halling romantic action retro starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
