Rest easy, Gudda: Bollywood celebs line up to bid farewell to Rohit Bal
Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ananya Panday, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sonam Kapoor, among others, posted emotional tributes for late designer Rohit Bal, who died on Friday, November 1, after battling heart issues.

Following the demise of designer Rohit Bal on Friday, November 1 due to a heart ailment, Bollywood celebrities lined up to pay emotional tributes to him. The designer was 63 when he breathed his last. Celebrities including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Aditi Rao Hydari among others remembered the famous designer for his impeccable style and craft.
Sharing a fitting tribute on Instagram, Ananya posted a picture of herself walking the ramp as a showstopper for Baal, and wrote, “Gudda, Om Shanti”, along with a heart emoji and folded hands emoji . Kareena shared a picture of the designer from her younger days, when he also worked as a model, and added heart emojis to the post. Aditi’s caption on the shared post reads, “Relax in style, rest in beauty”.

Actor Sidharth Malhotra paid tribute to Rohit Bal on Instagram. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the loss. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

Sonam addressed Rohit as ‘gudda’, as he is popularly called, and wrote a long note on her Instagram stories. She also mentioned that she was coincidentally wearing a designer outfit today as part of her Diwali festivities.
Her note read, “Dear Gudda, I hear about your demise while on my way to celebrate Diwali in your grand creation, which you generously lent me for the second time. I am fortunate to have you I know I wear you and walk for you many times. I hope you will always be my biggest fan.”

The 63-year-old designer was suffering from heart disease for some time. The news of his death was confirmed by a note posted on the official Instagram account of FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India). The statement said, “We mourn the demise of renowned designer Rohit Bal. He was the founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal The work redefined and inspired Indian fashion.” Generations (sic).”
The post further said, “His legacy of artistry and innovation as well as visionary thinking will live on in the world of fashion. Rest in peace Gudda.”
Rohit was suffering from heart disease since last year. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in November 2023. The fashion designer was rushed to the hospital due to pre-existing heart complications.
She returned to work earlier this year and showed her last show at the Lakme India Fashion Week in Delhi last month. The designer stumbled on the ramp, leaving fans worried about his health.
