Reflecting on the years between her films, Poonam said that she remained creatively engaged despite receiving fewer acting offers. “After my last film, R…RajkumarI didn’t do films for some time but I kept myself busy with shows. For seven years, I organized the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards, which honored top actors. Later, I produced a Marathi film, flame, And continued creating content on social media. The offers I got for mainstream films didn’t feel right to me and I never wanted to do roles that I didn’t enjoy. I focused on projects that really mattered.”
The actor also talked about the challenges he faced in the industry. “When I started I was very young and people liked my work, but I was not from the film industry. There was a lot of nepotism there. If no one wanted to give you work, you didn’t get work. I turned down many offers that didn’t feel right, which created backlash against me. Still, I remained strong and focused. Later, I became the youngest female producer in the industry and continued making films and music albums.”
Reminiscing about her work, Poonam shares memories from the sets Pawn. “Working with Sunil Shetty, Akshay Kumar and others was unforgettable. The role I got was important, and I am very grateful to Rajeev Rai ji for giving me that milestone. I have seen many ups and downs, but I don’t dwell on the past. I believe in standing firm, taking opportunities as they come, and staying true to myself.”
Recalling an incident on the sets of one of her previous films, Poonam also talked about facing tough experiences in the film industry. Without naming anyone, he said he had to endure extremely unprofessional behaviour.
“I have faced such situations many times in this industry, but what I experienced R…RajkumarThe set was particularly disturbing. Even today, after so many years, when you finally get a film, some actresses want to take all the credit and treat others as disposable. This mentality has brought the industry down. People do not respect those working around them. If you give someone a role, that character deserves dignity and importance,” she said.
The situation was different in the streaming world. He said, “On OTT platforms, every character has a strong background and value, but in films, it is still mostly about the hero and heroine. Everyone else is treated like ‘trash’. This is very wrong.”

My character is at the center of the story, helping and guiding people from her perspective.”
He also talked about another project, tentatively titled undefeatedWhose shooting is being done in Rajasthan. He said, “It is inspired by real events and local traditions. I am confident that it will make a strong impact and will also win awards. I am excited to bring this story to life.”
