Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is gearing up for its 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is scheduled to take place today, August 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm (IST). The annual event will be live streamed via video conferencing and various other digital platforms, with chairman Mukesh Ambani making big announcements about the company’s upcoming plans. According to reports, Ambani may also unveil plans to expand Hanuman AI, an India-focused generative AI tool launched earlier this year. Like AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Hanuman AI has been developed in collaboration with several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), SML India and other partners. It supports 12 Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi and Bengali, as well as 98 foreign languages, providing a versatile tool for India’s multilingual population.

Jio 5G expansion

The AGM is also expected to include updates on Jio’s 5G network expansion, which has already been rolled out in major telecom circles in the country. The company is likely to share new data on network growth, user statistics and future plans.

Additionally, announcements related to Jio’s telecom services are expected, especially with regard to its fixed broadband services, Jio Fiber and Jio AirFibre.

JioPhone 5G

Another expected highlight of the AGM is the launch of the JioPhone 5G, an affordable 5G smartphone. Building on the success of the JioPhone 4G developed in collaboration with Google, the JioPhone 5G is expected to cater to India’s price-sensitive market while offering 5G capabilities.
