Confirming the postponement of the film, sources close to Kangana’s team said that the Lok Sabha MP from Mandi is hopeful that the film will release in the next 10 days. The new release date is being finalised due to issues with the censor board and the death threats she received recently. According to information shared with India Today, despite these challenges, Kangana wants to see the film release as soon as possible.

Earlier, the BJP MP had alleged that the approval of the film was withheld because members of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had received threats.

In a video posted on her official X handle, Kangana said, “There are rumours doing the rounds that our film Emergency has received a censor certificate but that is not the case. Though the film was initially approved, the certificate was withheld due to multiple threats including death threats to the censor board members. We are facing pressure to omit important content like Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Bhindranwale and Punjab riots. I find this situation very disturbing and am saddened by the current state of our country.”

The controversy surrounding the film started a few weeks ago when a journalist said that he did not want to make any comment about the film. The organisation alleges that the trailer “represents the Sikh community in a bad light” and They fear the film could “incite hatred”.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Sikh community leaders raised concerns over the release of the film in Telangana.
