Reese Witherspoon had a special celebration at this year’s Emmy Awards with The Morning Show co-star Jennifer Aniston, director Laura Dern, and executive producer Mimi Leder. On Monday, September 16, the Big Little Lies actress, who was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series alongside Aniston, shared several photos from the night of the awards ceremony. “Girls night at the Emmys,” she wrote in the caption.
The first photo shows Friends actress Leder and Witherspoon sitting together at a dinner table, after which Witherspoon took a selfie in the washroom with her longtime bestie, Big Little Lies costar Dern. The director appeared again in a photo in which she is laughing while holding lipstick as Aniston poses next to her.
The post includes several snaps of best friends Dern and Witherspoon, including a car selfie as they headed to the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles for their wedding night, a video of them walking down the aisle, and one on the red carpet.
The Legally Blonde actress also shared a photo showing off her stunning Dior gown, which featured delicate floral embellishments. She wore her hair in a chic updo and opted for smoky eye makeup and a gold clutch to seal the look. In a separate Instagram post, she shared a close-up shot of her look and a selfie with the hair and makeup team. “Emmys night!! So excited to celebrate @themorningshow season 3 and all the amazing people who made it possible,” she captioned the post.
Although Aniston and Witherspoon lost the Best Supporting Actress award to Shogun’s Anna Sawai, The Morning Show won three Emmy Awards. Her co-star Billy Crudup won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as titular network president Cory Ellison.
The show revolves around a fictional news network UBA, exploring the intricacies of the ruthless world of media and “the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning.” Witherspoon plays news anchor Bradley Jackson and Aniston plays his co-anchor Alex Lexie. The three seasons of The Morning Show are available to stream on Apple TV+.
