The fireworks of New Year’s Eve 2024 had died down just a bit when Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Turbo 4. Then in late April, the company launched the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. This year we expect at least three Turbo models and the new model may arrive first – Xiaomi has posted a teaser for the Turbo 5 Max.
Xiaomi says the Max will be the fastest phone with the best battery in the CNY 2,500 price segment. This converts to $360/€305/₹32,500, although as always, keep in mind that global prices are higher than a simple currency conversion.
Redmi Turbo 5 Max teaser
Unfortunately, the price range is the only concrete number that Xiaomi has offered in its official teaser. off the records, @smartpikachu The report says that the new Turbo series will have metal frames with rounded corners, larger displays, and will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8 and 9-series chips.
Previously, we heard that the Redmi Turbo 5 will have the Dimensity 8500, while the Turbo 5 Pro will use the Dimensity 9500e (supposedly a lower bin version of the 9500, though see below). According to 3C’s data, the Pro will have 100W charging. It is said to feature a 1.5K LTPS OLED display and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
Well, the Pro is interesting, because last year the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro was launched internationally as the Poco F7. Will Redmi Turbo 5 Pro become F8? Perhaps. And what about Max?

@digitalchatstation It is reported that the new series will start this month. The Redmi Turbo 5 Max will reportedly be powered by the “Dimensity 9500s” chipset, which will be a variant of the 9400+. There may be some confusion with the naming – last year, the Dimensity 9400e was rebadged the 9300+, so the 9500e should be based on the 9400+. Not that chipset names follow any logic.
The Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra are already official with Snapdragon 8 Elite chips (one original, one Gen 5), so the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will have different hardware from them. However, the Pro model may still serve as the basis for the vanilla F8.
