A few days ago, ahead of his 75th birthday, Rajinikanth confirmed a sequel, ‘Neelambari: Padayappa 2’, promising an exciting return to form for Ramya Krishnan’s iconic character. The actor recalled the film’s unmatched craze: Women once “broke down the doors” to see the original 1999 blockbuster. In a YouTube video, the veteran said, “In my 50-year career, I have never seen women break the gate to watch a movie like they did.” Padayappa,

Rajinikanth was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie (2025), starring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and others in pivotal roles. The film also featured Aamir Khan in an extended cameo role.
He will be next seen in Nelson Dilipkumar’s film jailer 2 (2026).
