Randeep Hooda, who made his Bollywood debut in 2001 with Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, is one of the talented actors in Hindi cinema. Randeep is known for his work in films like Highway and Sarbjit and many more. The actor was last seen in his directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar earlier this year. Randeep Hooda recently claimed that Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor can’t do what he does and said that they are not good at dancing.
During the India Today Mind Rocks 2024 Youth Summit on Saturday, Randeep Hooda stressed on why he likes method acting more than dance. Randeep said that he likes transformational acting “where you are preparing yourself to get to the truth of a character”.
Giving the example of playing cops in films, the actor shared that he has never played a “cardboard cop” wearing a uniform. Randeep also discussed that he doesn’t want to compete with actors like Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor and Tiger Shroff over his dancing skills. The Sarbjit actor remarked that they “can’t do” what he does on screen and he can’t dance like them because he isn’t a “good” dancer, Randeep feels.
“They are also human beings and incidentally cops too. That’s where you make the difference. And since I was not good at dancing, I chose to become good at it. So, why compete with Hrithik, Shahid and Tiger, because they dance so well? They can’t do what I can do. Find your USP,” the Highway actor said.
During the same event, Randeep Hooda spoke about his journey in Bollywood and said that he has been a part of meaningful and entertaining films in his career. Randeep further said that filmmakers cannot preach to the audience through cinema because “no one wants to listen to a lecture”. The Swatantrya Veer Savarkar actor said that films can inform the audience through entertainment and referred to it as the “only thing” that the audience takes home after watching a film.
Randeep Hooda’s Highway also featured Alia Bhatt in the lead role. Randeep’s performance in this 2014 film directed by Imtiaz Ali was well received by the audience. Randeep’s other notable films include Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Murder 3, Kick and Sultan.
