Ranbir Kapoor has landed in a new controversy after a new video surfaced contradicting earlier reports that he had given up alcohol and non-vegetarian food to prepare for the role of Lord Ram in Nitish Tiwari’s upcoming film ‘Ramayan’. The actor was widely reported to have adopted a strict Sattvic lifestyle – quitting smoking, meditating and following a disciplined daily routine to embrace the spiritual discipline associated with Lord Ram.
However, a video has recently been released ‘Dining with the Kapoors’ raises questions About these claims. The special content, created to mark the 100th birth anniversary of the great Raj Kapoor, shows Armaan Jain serving fish curry rice and wild mutton to the Kapoor family. Ranbir is seen sitting at the dining table with Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Reema Jain, Saif Ali Khan and others.
The clip quickly went viral, sparking a wave of criticism on social media. Many users accused the actor’s PR machinery of spreading misleading information. A viral post reads, “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR team claimed that he has given up non-vegetarian food in honor of playing the role of Lord Ram in the film Ramayana, but he is seen enjoying fish curry, mutton and paya with his family. Ranbir Kapoor has the most effective PR in Bollywood. #DiningWithTheKapoors.”
Another user questioned the planning behind such promotional claims, saying, “I think PR teams of Bollywood actors should be fired, especially RK and Alia Bhatt’s. They don’t even do the slightest research about their clients’ past videos before making such stupid posts. Also, give such exaggerated claims and everything. What was the need to claim to have given up non-vegetarian food and drinks for the role? Who asked? If they had kept their mouths shut at that time.” If they had, they would not be facing this unnecessary heat currently.”
Meanwhile, the discussion regarding Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ remains intense. Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays the role of Sita. Yash will play the role of Ravana, while Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey will be seen as Hanuman and Lakshman.
