Ranbir Kapoor calls Sanjay Leela Bhansali his ‘godfather’: Excited for love and war
Actor Ranbir Kapoor shares his excitement about reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 17 years. He discussed how the director has always been close to his art, which makes him different.
Ranbir Kapoor is all set to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali once again 17 years after his debut film Saawariya. The two have reunited for their next project, Love and War, which is a romantic drama that also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. Speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Ranbir shared his thoughts about returning to the Bhansali sets.
He said he is ‘extremely excited’ about it working on love and war Talking about his ‘Godfather’, Ranbir said, “Whatever I know about films and acting, I have learned from him. For me, working with him again after 17 years still feels the same. I am still in awe of him and respect him very much. He (Sanjay) has not changed at all. He is extremely hardworking, he only thinks about his films and how to convey the character. He also wants you to do something different. I am very excited now.”
While Ranbir Kapoor often credits the filmmaker for teaching him lessons on filmmaking, he had also shared how Ranbir was a strict taskmaster on the sets of the critically acclaimed Saawariya. He had told how the director used to scold and shout at him if he was not satisfied with his performance.
The Bollywood star was speaking at the centenary celebrations of his grandfather Raj Kapoor. Reflecting his fondness for the legendary filmmaker, Ranbir also shared how the Heeramandi director expressed his excitement about the 100th birth anniversary celebrations.
Ranbir is training hard for his upcoming project. A few days ago, the video of the actor sweating it out in the gym for his character had fans quite excited for the project.
Apart from Love and War, Ranbir also has these Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana In the pipeline, which will be released in two parts. The first part will hit theaters in 2026. Apart from Ranbir, the film also stars Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Yash and Lara Dutta.
Love and War will release on Eid 2026.
