As a debate in Indian film industries about a certain work hours, actor Rana Daggubati has weighed with a grassroots perspective, urging people to see the conversation through the lens of India’s economic and social realities. Her comments come at a time when Deepika Padukone reportedly reported to be out of Sandeep Reddy Wanga and Prabhas’s upcoming film ‘Spirit’ due to long -term working hours and contractual disagreement, bringing the issue into a public focus.

In an interview with LallantopRana addressed the growing call for the structured working day in filmmaking. “We must understand that India is a developing country. We are not a developed nation. Our economy is probably 186th in the world if you look at per capita income,” they explained. “So for me, it’s not work, it is a lifestyle.”

Rana, who lives in the Telugu film industry, said that the culture of work in cinema is not a single-shaped fit. He said, “The project depends on the person and the region. For example, Maharashtra follows a 12 -hour shift from 9 am, while Telugu cinema usually has an 8 -hour shift at 7 am,” he said that other factors such as places and what shoots are on a set or also affects hours of working in the studio.

He emphasized the complexity of the issue, seeing, “You are seeing it as a common statement – this is not.” Citing India’s heavy population and income inequalities, he said, “In a country where 70-80 percent of people earn 100 rupees per day, we need to see things in perspective. We still have a long way to go.”

Regarding the pressure actors during long shoots, Rana said, “No one is forcing anyone. It’s a task. It’s an option. Everyone’s own opinion is what is important to them. There are actors who work only four hours – this is their system.”

Her comments come in the wake of the headlines around Deepika Padukone, who allegedly excluded the ‘Spirit’ after her request for eight hours of workday. While the actor has not publicly addressed the matter, director Sandeep Reddy Wanga posted a secret note on social media, without directly nominating him, it seemed to be targeted.

In the post, Wanga accused an anonymous actor of playing “dirty PR game” and cheating on his faith. “There is an unheard NDA among us. But by doing so, you have revealed the person you are. Is it standing for your feminism?” He has written.
